Week seventeen Quote Question Song Lines

Inside Out & Back Again

Homework: AR 100%

                  We started the sixth period off by writing in our binder reminders and taking a minute. After our minute, Ismael read his blog. After he read his blog, he chose me. I hope you're happy Ismael. We then started to do our lines of the week.

                  We read over,"Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost and then we did, "Good Hours" also made by Robert Frost. When we finished reading and taking notes on the lines, we started reading Inside Out & Back Again. We started to pack up two minutes before the bell, and when it rang, we left.

We started off the day by coming to class, sitting down, and writing our binder reminders. After that, Cash came up to read his blog. Once he was done, he had me and Landon to do rock paper scissors to see who would do the blog next. I lost, so then I came up and started to write my blog. Then, Ms. Nakada asked us to take out our English notebook, then we listened to "This Is Me Trying" By Taylor Swift. Now, we were talking about what the song was about and what our favorite line was which I didn't have because I wasn't really a fan of the song. Then, Ms. Nakada had us take out our Inside Out & Back Again. After, we read Inside Out & Back Again we reviewed the chapter and what happened. Once we finished with that, we packed up, put the chairs up and left.

Week 17: QQSL

When people got into class and took out the binder reminders, Ms. Nakada played a meditation for a minute. After that, Emmett got up to read his blog. Then, he picked me for no reason but I had to, so I got up and started doing my blog. Then, every one started doing the QQSL for the week.

"Besaydoo, we whispered to each other across the country." Then, Ms. Nakada started playing a podcast. After that, we discussed the poem and what it means. Then, she asked Ashkan, a question but he was sleeping and when he woke up he was lost. Then, we started to do the question: Can money buy true happiness. When we were done writing, we start reading I.O. & B.A. Then, when we were done we all get up and leave the room.

PART 1

HOMEWORK:

I.O. & B.A. p. 50-110

We started off by taking a minute to one of my least favorite meditation videos. Then, we went over Ariana's second blog and corrected it as we went on. After we finished correcting the blog, we opened up Inside Out & Back Again by Thanhha Lai. We read for ten minutes, and the book went by fast, because it is written in verse. After the first reading session, we started writing down the setting and characters, when we were interrupted by the loudspeaker. Lena got sent down after a couple people wanted to go, but she got picked as the representative. We wrote about the characters named Há, Khôi, Vu, and Quang.

We read for another couple minutes, and then discussed what we were reading.

We finished up, and the bell was about to ring, so we packed up our stuff and went home.

First, the class watched a video of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie talking about her experience with books, and life, and she talks about her characters. She also talks about diversity in authors and how the media makes a single story the whole truth about everything. She talks about how stereotypes are bad and incomplete. After that, the class wrote notes about comparing and contrast of what they just watched. Lastly, the class went around the room and did a page on who's novel stood out to them the most and wrote why. Then, we packed up and left.

week 16. Q.Q.S.L

NaNo submissions

HW: prepare novel submissions 

due (printed) Wednesday

Today we started off with a mindful minute which was very mindful. Then, we wrote down a quote from a UCLA coach and wrote what we thought it was about and answered a question about what the quote means.

We also answered the question: who is telling the stories, who are they about, who are they for, and why are they important?

Next, the class did NaNoWriMo reflections and answered questions related to how the experience of writing the novel was. During that, Ms. Nakada handed out calendars/planners that the class demanded. 

After the reflection, the class opened up their chromebooks and Ms. Nakada was showing how to create covers for NaNoWriMo novels, and was showing google images that were requested to be shown. Then, everyone started creating their own. When the class was done with the cover, you were supposed to write about the author of the book. After you write about the author, you write a brief summary of your novel. Then you go ahead and write an author's note to the readers of your novel. After that, you create a beginning, middle, and end picking out your favorite parts of your novel. Then, class ended.👍

Enjoy the weekend!

Today I was enjoying the bugs outside when a large human came, took me, and put me in a box. I was made to climb in a box as the human clicked on a keyboard. First, they were told to write what was on the white board. Then, they listened to calming music. After that, they updated the...NaNoWriMo Board? Silly name. They started on NaNoWriMo reflection, but a loud ringing noise startled me. I was terrified and clung to the top of the box. The humans all went back outside to a big field where they took a quiz and then waited for the bell to ring.
