HW:

RJ 11.2 iReady (2 lessons)

Read, IXL, or iReady 20-30 minutes

We started off the day by coming in, taking a minute, and writing down the agenda. Afterwards, Landon read Enrique's blog and picked me to do the next one, but almost picked Emmett. We then settled into Reader's Workshop, and Ms. Nakada said that we had a 100% iReady pass rating unlike most of her other classes except period 1. We transitioned into Q-Q-S-L where our song of the week was "Like a Girl" by Lizzo which had quite the amount of naughty words Landon was shocked by. Ashlyn came up as the temporary teacher to write down the song, favorite line, and what the song is about. Landon did not like the new teacher and just had to speak his mind about it, for whatever reason. After we talked about the song, we moved into the Black Author Projects which Miles needs to still do research on for us and do the paper as well. We only got to do five minutes worth of work before we packed up and left.

HW: RJ 11.1 iReady (2 lessons) read, IXL, or iReady for 20 - 30 minutes.

We walked into class right after the bell rang, waiting in a line for Ms. Nakada to tell us where our new seats will be. Then, we settled in our new seats. We all wrote down the agenda In our binder reminders, right after Ms. Nakada had a discussion with all of us about the take a minute video from last week. Ms. Nakada called Keziah up to read her blog. After she read her blog, she chose me. Ms. Nakada had everyone start working on the Week 10 Quiz for a few minutes. After we all did the quiz, we transitioned into reader's workshop and did it for a few minutes. When we finished with reader's workshop, we all transitioned into the QQSL for the week. Everyone took out their notebook's and started writing down the quote of the week.

The quote of the week is, "Solidarity is what we want. We do not want to find fault with each other, but to solidify forces." by Mother Jones. We talked about what this person mean when she was saying what she said. After the quote of the week, Ms. Nakada let Ashkan be the teacher. He wrote down what the author meant and man, he sure does have neat handwriting! After Ashkan was done being the teacher, he picked Emmett to be the next teacher of the day. Emmett took Ms. Nakada's place and discussed the question of the week. After discussing the question of the week, we all got into Black Author Project groups. We only worked on them for a few minutes before the bell rang, and once again, saved by the bell!

literature circles

HW: RJ 10.1 Read, IXL,or iReady for 20-30 minutes

Today we started off like we normally did. We wrote the agenda in our binder reminders and took a minute, then it came time for blog corrections. Alejandro went up to read his blog and was already plotting to pick me which I DID NOT appreciate. I tried to get him to choose Cash but he wasn't changing his mind, but that's ok I'm going to choose Cash next. Once I sat down we started setting up reading journals. We only had to do three this week because we have our eighth grade field trip this week. I'm so excited! Once we finished up reader's workshop, we took out our reading journals, and started week 10: Q Q S L. The Quote this week is: "No one is your friend who demands your silence or denies your right to grow." By Alice Walker. We discussed the question which was: What does gender equity look like at school? We talked about inequity then flipped our reading journals to literature circles. Ms. Nakada gave us 30 seconds to be seated in our literature circle groups. After we were done discussing with our groups, it was already time to pack, and we left. 🎀Coquette.
