We went on to do the lines for week 7 Q.Q.S.L. Then, Ms. Nakada told us about "art-tober," or "ink-tober," (I'm not sure) because she could not wait. Lastly, we packed and went home.

We started off sixth period by taking out our agendas and taking a minute. Then, Ms. Nakada had told the class to take out reading journals and write our RJ's of the week. As we opened our reading journals, the class wrote down the Quote, Questions, Song, Lines of the week in the journals. After we wrote down the quote of the week and discussed with the class on what the quote meant. Once we finished discussing with the whole class about the quote we moved on to the question. The question of the week was "How do you take care of yourself during stressful times?" Ms. Nakada then started asking some people in the class how they take care of themselves during stressful times. Many people said they like to take naps and others said they like listening to music. Ms. Nakada then played a song called "Numb Little Bug" by Em Beihold and we talked about what the song meant. After we discussed what the song meant, we packed up and left.

To start off sixth period we walked in, took a minute, and wrote down the agenda in our binder reminders.  After Violet read her blog, I told her to choose me so I can get it over with. Soon after writing down the agenda, Ms. Nakada announced that she is going to check binder reminders and reading logs for this week. Then, we got into readers workshop to catch up if we missed out on any reading logs. Soon later, Ms. Nakada told us to take out The Outsiders and we started to discuss the chapter. To end the day off, we did the week six quiz.

We started off sixth period by sitting down, and taking a minute. Then, Keziah came up and read her blog to the class, and then chose me. After Ms. Nakada and the class corrected her blog, Ms. Nakada came around to check everyone's reading journals. After that, she passed out The Outsiders book to everyone, and the class started reading out loud. I didn't really understand what was happening, since I was writing the blog, but it still sounds like a good book. We then made a notation about how Ponyboy got jumped. After that, we got out our note books, and talked about the elements of plot. Then, Ms. Nakada forgot to do attendance, again, but she still gave us a point. Then, William brought out his mysterious book project. Turns out it was some kind of soda for everyone. It was really good. In the end, the bell rang, and we all got to leave.

week 6: S.L

When I had walked into class, I was just getting used to my new seat next to William near the front of the class. We took a minute to breath and relax before we got into doing our work. After, we did reader's workshop, and I kept asking Ms. Nakada questions on the blog because I was confused and never did it. We opened our reading journal and wrote down the question of the week: How can we celebrate Latin America Heritage Month?  The song of the week is "Soy Yo" by Bomba Estéreo which sounded familiar since I heard it on commercials. The song is about unapologetically being yourself. We glued the lines in and then class was over.

RJ 6.1 Read for 20-30 minutes and record.

As sixth period started we walked into class and got new seats. Once we settled down into our new seats we started to argue with who Emmett should pick by paying him money. Then, Emmett got up to read his blog and picked me. After that, Ms. Nakada took out her reading journal and wrote down the new book she was reading which was called Girl Hood by Melissa Febos. Ms. Nakada started to write down week six early and put down when we would start reading The Outsiders

Once we were finished copying down week six, we started to talk about book projects. Ms. Nakada started to show us some examples of other students book projects from the past to give us some ideas, and explained each option so we got an understanding. She then gave us a blue piece of paper that we had to glue into our reading journals that suggested some books we can use for the book project if we didn't have an idea in mind.

After, we wrote down week six in our table of contents and we began week six quote and question. Cristo Fernandez was the man who made this week's quote which was a scene from Sesame Street. We started to talk about Sesame Street and Ms. Nakada showed us the scene where Cristo Fernandez said the quote. We started the question of the week but the bell rang, and we all packed up and left.

Happy Weekend!

'Sup fam, it's Emmett. I came to class while following Noah and Diana, and we went the long way, even though we made it to class on time. Not a very long route, Diana. We did our "take a minute," but it was extra long, because we were gonna listen to the full meditation. Chavez read his blog, and then he picked me (I'll get you back). I was one of the last people to do the blog. Lunden and Dani got mad at me for lying about doing the blog already so that they wouldn't pick me. I mean, in my defense it worked for a while.

Next, we started gluing this week's lines into our English Notebooks. We had a side conversation about Langston Hughes, who is this week's lines' author. We began to read the poem. It spread a good message about how all people are the same no matter what they look like or their age. Ms. Nakada told us that the part of the poem in italic would be on the quiz. I don't think it will be hard to forget that because everyone gasped. Very dramatic and I don't know why. It's really not that serious.

We started talking about nationality and how the term "colored" is outdated and you can say something else like "person of color." The poem got confusing for some people. Lena stood up and started a search warrant for her eraser because she couldn't find it :'( . The poem had a lot of rhymes even though there wasn't a specific rhyme scheme.

Anyways, it was cool to do the blog I guess. Class is ending, bye everyone...

ps im the light green one so yeah no one take that from me or i will find you...

Week 5: S . L

A.C.E / book projects

We started sixth period by coming in and listening to Landon read his blog. Afterwards, he picked me to do the blog which I somewhat predicted. Then, we had a small conversation after, I think, Enrique called me "Chavez" as a joke. This caused Ms. Nakada to remember something from her past about some kids being racist, but being bad at it somehow. Then, we had to pull out our notebooks for Ms. Nakada to see. Then, William went to Mr. Ezell to ask about the book fair, which he then said that he is going down soon, then we all went to the book fair for a few minutes to buy stuff that we wanted. Then, we went back to the class and started reading for like ten minutes. After that, we started to go back to working on A.C.E. which Ms. Nakada had to explain to us how to do the visual prompt for it because she didn't explain it well with third period. Then, we finished it up and wrote down Book Projects / Book Recs in our table of contents of our English notebooks, and started reading about them and how to do them. But then the bell came out of nowhere, and we had to pack up and leave.

At the start of period six, everyone got settled in their seats and then took a minute to write down the agenda. After we wrote down the agenda, William came up to read his blog and chose the next person to write the blog. He chose me but i'g not going to be mad about it. Next, Ms. Nakada told us to take out our reading books and our reading journals so that Ms. Nakada could check to see if we have been reading and logging our pages. We read our books while Ms. Nakada checked our reading journals. We then took out our English notebooks. We re-learned ACE and wrote notes about it. We also had a conversation mid way through about plagiarism. Ms. Nakada then passed out School Trip books and gave us an assignment. After the assignment, class was about to end so we all got ready to leave, put the books back, put the chairs on our desk and left when the bell rang.

Hello, Nerds. By the time you read this, I will already be done, and it's time for you to listen to my story of the Shadow Wizard Money Gang's sixth period.

So, we started the sixth period by walking in and grabbing our planners, and then we wrote down the agenda. As we wrote down the agenda, Ms. Nakada started our take a minute. After the minute, Heber shared his blog, and then he chose me to write the blog today, but jokes on him. I wanted to do because it was a short day. Now, we transitioned to talk about an abolitionist and what it means. Then, we talked about the question: What is your history as a reader? Lena shared her history as a reader. Now, we started to listen to the song. "Redemption Song" by Bob Marley. Now Ms. Nakada asks us about what redemption and what it means to emancipate.

We will go to the book fair Thursday.

It was finally sixth period, and we started off today's class by taking a minute to either write down the agenda, box breathing, doodle, and meditate, after the minute passed we began to read Janeth's blog. She wasn't here though, so William read for her. After he finished reading, he chose me, and we did corrections (great)😑. Then, we took out our reading journals to set up for week five of our reading. Then Ms. Nakada began to discuss about the time that it takes for you to read, and that you should get to at least 100 pages read each week. Next, we began to do iReady for anyone that hasn't finished yet, the rest did IXL or they read. After that, we took out our notebooks and went to the table of contents we wrote down Independent Reading Plan for page 5, and Quote, Question, Song, Lines for page 6. Next, we turned to page 5 to write down ten books we will read in the fall. We moved on to Quote, Question, Song, Lines. We were in the middle of the quote when the bell rang all the sudden, but we all got ready to leave and school ended.

Check 5-week grades

HW: Stay cool this weekend!

We entered the class and Ms. Nakada noticed that some of us had flour on our faces. She was then questioning how hectic science could be. We then started the day by opening up our reading journals and writing down the Agenda. Ms. Nakada called Declan up to read his blog. After he was done reading, he got to choose who would write the blog next. I was the lucky winner. (Yay.) Then, Ms. Nakada told us to take out our reading journals and binder reminders so that she could check them off and give us a grade. The class then got loud, and Ms. Nakada did not like it. Once the class settled, she told us to take out our books. The class was surprisingly silent. (It never is.) While the class was reading, Ms. Nakada went around and checked off our reading journals and binder reminders. When she got to half of the room she announced for us to open up Schoology and check our grades. When we were done checking Schoology she had us log into iReady. Those who didn't have a computer had to come up and borrow one. Once that was all settled, the class was being loud as it usually is. (I knew it was too good to be true.) Finally, school was over! We started packing up, and we were all probably thinking about our weekend. The bell finally rang, and we made it through the day.

Then, we took out our notebooks and updated our reading journals. While Ms. Nakada was checking our reading journals, we got the news that Larry had to leave. After that, we turned on our Chromebooks, took an AR test on School Trip, and did the iReady test (we still didn't finish). Finally, it was time to leave.

Hello there my fellow nerds (not meant as an insult), Ms. Nakada started sixth period with finishing the Week Three Quiz (which some of us didn't finish). Ms. Nakada had us open our Reading Journals and pick our next book to read. We filled out our week four template for 9/5 to 9/7. Ms. Nakada let the people who didn't have books to read, pick out books from her library. After that, Ms. Nakada had us open Schoology to use IReady. In the IReady we took the English diagnostic. We didn't get to finish it so we closed the tab and started to pack up. Normally, I would add images but the bell rang so we had been dismissed.

The end.
