Book Projects due Friday
We started off the day by writing down the agenda and taking a minute. Then, we got reminded that our book project was due Friday by Ms. Nakada. After that, we passed out the poem packets and chose the poem "O Captain! My Captain!" by Walt Whitman. The poem is written to celebrate the victory of the Civil War and mourn the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. After we analyzed the poem, we wrote it down in our reading journals and started writing our poem of the day. The prompts given were belly-laugh, something lost, and a mistake. Ms. Nakada took note of our progress on the wall after we wrapped up and shared our writings. Then, we flipped to our QQSL and glued in the lines.
The lines of the week were: "Because You Asked about the Line Between Prose and Poetry" by Howard Nemorov. It used the comparison of rain and snow to show the difference of prose and poetry and that you can tell their difference by just looking.
After that, we moved into our literature circles groups to check in with our members. Finally, we packed up and left.
